We are excited to welcome Alie to our Dance Attack instructor team. She brings many years of experience and a fun, motivating personality. Please get to know her as she begins her training with us. You will soon see her team-teaching with us in class, plus helping out with Learn The Moves while Sommer is on maternity leave. Here's a little background on Alie below. Welcome to the team Alie!
Allison “Alie” Trainor comes to us from southern California where she competed on her dance studio’s competition team for almost 10 years. She’s danced at conventions and competitions including Company Dance, Dupree, Hollywood Vibe, and New York City Dance Alliance (NYCDA). Her passion for dance and academics took her to Amherst, Massachusetts, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Biomedicine and Dance Education. While in college, she travelled on scholarship with Hollywood Vibe and performed with Alvin Ailey II for a special dance performance. After graduation, her first position with the Center for Arts in Medicine at the University of Florida relocated her to Gainesville. Since then, she has served in a variety of positions with Shands Hospital, the UF Area Health Education Center (AHEC) program, and is now the Research Program Coordinator for the Southern HIV & Alcohol Research Consortium (SHARC) in the Department of Epidemiology at UF. In her spare time, Alie enjoys running, staying involved with her church (Gainesville Christian Church), and leading HOPE worldwide – Gainesville Chapter – with her husband, Joey. She is thrilled to be joining the Dance Attack team at Gainesville Health and Fitness Center, and is honored to be a part of such a fun and talented group of "dancers"!
